If you have a hydrant near your house please assist your local fire department by digging it out!
There's nothing worse than pulling up to a house fire with possible victims trapped and not be able to access a water supply quickly because it's buried in snow.
Don't take a chance... You never know! You may indirectly help save a life when time is of the essence. On behalf of all firefighters, we appreciate it more than you know.

Crews responded to assist Salem Township Fire on back to back fires on Monday Morning. The fire alarm was dispatched just after 1AM. 118 Engine 2 was first to arrive with chief 118 advising they had fire showing from the bravo side of structure. Crews from engine 2 started deploying lines to set up for fire attack operations. Crews started with transitional attack before going interior to knock down the remaining fire. Transitional attack which means applying water into the fire area could be a faster and an effective way to knock down the fire and improve interior conditions. This way, an interior attack based on size-up and safety would follow after the exterior line has been shut down, which would lead to a faster and more effective way to extinguish the fire.
Crews once again was dispatched to the same section of roadway just before 6AM for another reported structure fire. 118 engine 2 arrived on scene and advised dispatch that the house was fully involved and that the fire would be exterior operations only. Chief 118 assumed command and had crews start stretching hand lines along with putting the master stream in service to knock down the fire and quickly had the 2nd alarm tanker assignment dispatched. Crews worked for several hours in cold and icy conditions to bring the fire under control.
